How it Works
A Smarter, Simpler Way to Get Paid.
At Prime Options, we believe payroll should empower contractors — not confuse them.
That’s why we use a Joint Employment model: a fully compliant structure that gives you the flexibility of contracting with the security of continuous employment.
It’s a modern, transparent way to work — trusted by contractors, agencies, and clients across the UK.
What Is the Joint Employment Model?
In simple terms, Joint Employment means that you are employed by Prime Options and your end client (or agency) at the same time.
We share the responsibilities:
This structure keeps things clear, compliant, and fair for everyone involved — while giving you the freedom to take on multiple contracts without losing your employee benefits.
How it works in practice
Here’s what happens behind the scenes:
- You’re jointly employed by Prime Options and your client or agency.
- You complete your work as usual for the client.
- The agency or client pays Prime Options for your services.
- Prime Options processes your pay — handling all PAYE tax, NI contributions, and statutory deductions.
- You receive your net pay directly into your account, on time, every time.
You get all the benefits of employment without losing the freedom of contracting.
Your Key Benefits as a Contractor

Stay continuously employed by Prime Options even when you switch:
- Agencies
- Clients
- Projects
No need to start over each time — your employment, pay history, and benefits all remain consistent.

Delivering transparent and compliant payroll support for umbrella providers.
This is one of the biggest advantages of the Joint Employment model.
Continuous employment means you’re always under one long-term employment record — even if you move between contracts or take short breaks.
Why it matters:
- You build eligibility for statutory benefits such as maternity/paternity pay, sick pay, and holiday pay.
- Your employment rights stay active — including notice periods and redundancy protection.
- You can show a single, stable employment history for credit checks, mortgage applications, and tenancy agreements.
It’s the flexibility of contracting, backed by the stability of a permanent role.
Please note: Your continuous employment record remains in place for as long as you are engaged through Prime Options.
If you decide to move to a different payroll provider, your employment with Prime Options would naturally come to an end — and your new provider would begin a new employment record.
There’s no obligation to stay, but remaining with the same payroll provider ensures your employment history and rights stay uninterrupted.

Because you’re employed by Prime Options — not just tied to one agency — you can work across multiple agencies or end clients without the hassle of new onboarding or new payroll setups.
That means:
- One tax code, one employer, and one set of payslips.
- No gaps, delays, or confusion between contracts.
- Complete freedom to choose the work you want.

We handle everything the right way — every time.
- All income is processed under PAYE, so your tax and NI are automatically deducted and reported to HMRC.
- You receive a clear, itemised payslip showing exactly what’s been paid and deducted.
- You stay fully compliant with UK employment and tax laws without lifting a finger.
You focus on your work — we handle the rest.

As your employer, Prime Options gives you access to the same protections as a permanent employee, including:
- Statutory sick pay (SSP)
- Holiday pay entitlement
- Maternity and paternity pay
- Workplace pension contributions
- Ongoing HR and payroll support
You’re not just a number in a system — you’re part of a compliant, supportive employment structure built around your success.
