Research from the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) found that there were over one million temporary and contract workers on assignment each day during 2023 — up 8.4% on the previous year. Average assignment lengths increased from 15 to 22 weeks, reflecting the growing importance of flexible and stable work arrangements in the UK economy.
